Right off the bat, you are immersed in an interesting hybrid of Phoenix, The Fratellis, and U2 in the first track entitled “Birds” of Buzzard by Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s. These melodies bring a sense of peace and tranquility, although its lyrics truly contrast that feeling it brings. The instrumentals in many of the songs provide a feeling of relaxation, which makes Buzzard a successful album. The album features an interesting mix of stoner rock dipped into some pop.
“Let’s Paint Our Teeth Green” is a true reflection of the consistency that Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s has maintained since its previous album, Not Animal!. This, as well as other songs, really shares the same kind of momentum, as well as energy presented in their last album, with the perfect balance of drums and guitar.
Overall, the playful style of Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s makes this album incredibly enjoyable. The album’s most notable tracks include “Your Lower Back”, “Freak Flight”, and “Let’s Paint Our Teeth Green”.
