Students at Aragon are constantly surrounded by the noise of drills, hammers and people walking around on the roof.
“Sometimes I feel like it’s kind of going really slowly,” says sophomore Marie Mihara.
Construction is progressing, and despite the fact that it seems that it is dragging on forever, students do not need to worry; the noisy construction is going to be done before the end of the school year.
One part of the construction that has just started is the new Aragon theater. The current theater will be torn down and made a part of the small gym, which will be much larger and able to hold 1,500 students. Construction starts the first week of December. The new theater will be placed where the lower set of basketball courts are and all of the basketball courts will be closed off for at least a year. The current theater will not be torn down until the new theater is finished.
The rails that hold the solar panels are nearly completed and the solar panels are expected to be installed this week. There is currently no date estimated for the end of solar panel construction since the weather coming in the next few months could cause delays.
Although the converters for the solar panels are in place with one by the softball field and the other by the baseball field, no piping has been done yet. The various dirt piles in the main courtyard will be used to surround and support the piping underneath the cement. The wires also have to be put in for the converters.
The pool is on track to be done by Jan. 31. However, just like the solar panels, the date might be delayed due to rain. Even if it does rain during winter, it would only take two days to pour the deck, so students can be assured that the pool will be done well before the end of the school year.
