Alongside publication of its March issue, the Aragon Outlook is launching its new website at aragonoutlook.org. Designed by technology editor and senior Dylan Wang, the new website simplifies navigation of the multitudinous Outlook articles from issues past.
Wang says, “This site redesign is a landmark as the Outlook continues to expand the mediums in which to access the paper.” The goal of the new design is to make online access to the newspaper faster and more appealing. While transitioning to the new website design, the website will also change web hosts, which should facilitate quicker loading times.
Some of the major changes incorporated into website include a redesigned article layout, homepage headline rotator and the addition of sidebars. The new website allows visitors to view the newest articles in either a list or grid format, which provides either more information per article or more articles per page, respectively. The grid method provides visitors with the ability to search visually, a unique feature of the new design. “[It is] definitely easier to navigate” according to sophomore news editor Brandon Liu.
The website now also features a prominent tab on the front page for sending letters to the editor. Senior editor-in-chief Sabrina Imbler says, “As our primary goal as a publication is to catalyze discussion around campus, we always encourage students and faculty to send us letters to the editor–both complimentary and constructive–to help improve our paper.”
In addition to being more of an evolutionary change to the website, Wang expects that the new design will make the online experience more enjoyable for readers. Make sure to visit the revamped website, send a letter to the editor, and check out the web exclusive content we have published this month!
“It’s richer than Mitt, it’s legit. This is it,” says senior arts and graphics editor Brian Barch.
