This year’s Track and Field team began with their first day of practice on Jan. 28. Senior Rory Beyer says, “The season looks great for us. In terms of the guys, we barely got edged out last year for the PAL Championship. This year we’ve got our top throwers returning, the core of our jumpers returning, a couple new additions to our sprinters to go with all of the fast returning guys, and as was evident in the cross country team making it to the state finals, an overall improved distance squad.”
Senior Katherine Chinn also has championship hopes, saying, “Of course, I hope to improve and hopefully [personal record] throughout the season, and as a team I know that we are looking at the PAL Championship meet and aiming for first place for both varsity boys and girls.”
Coach and science teacher Asif Rahman says, “I’ve been coaching for a long time. I would say this team, both boys and girls, have the ability or the potential of being the best team I’ve ever coached… I’m really looking forward to the season.”
