As with every difficult situation in life, it is an opportunity to look at ourselves and how we respond. This event gave us the opportunity to have discussion around fears, how we allow our fears to determine our behavior, ways to protect ourselves, and the probability of bad things happening. We also had a good discussion on the differences between our favorite crime shows and reality. After discussion determining that the best thing to do was attend school, there still was still a feeling of discomfort. I have heard bravery described as doing something, even when you are afraid. Stepping out and taking a chance is a choice, it is not always a comfortable choice. Our decision to not allow one anonymous person to determine our actions that day did not come lightly, ultimately, thank God, it was a good decision.

I don’t know what is worse…that it happened, or that it was
inevitable that something like this would happen. I guess this is the
new normal.
