The girls varsity soccer team fell 1-0 to the Burlingame Panthers on Thurs., Feb. 12 after sluggish starts in the first half for both teams. Both teams came close to breaking the seal and scoring goals including a handful of opportune attempts at the 20-yard line. Both teams played with a strong defense and goalie and good communication. However, strong defense and superb performances from the goalies kept the score at 0-0 heading into the half.
To start the second half, the Lady Dons came out strong on the defensive end, thwarting the Panther’s 10-yard attempt with 20 minutes into the half.
Then, with only three minutes left, when the Panthers made a clear-cut score, right under the goalie to extend the score to 1-0 with time dwindling.
Intensifying their efforts, the Lady Dons turned to defense senior Zoe Barrie, who was unable to convert, therefore ending the game at 1-0.
Thus far, with the regular season coming to an end, the Lady Dons have sustained a 8-9-2 overall record, including a 4-7-2 league record in the Bay Division.
They will look to add to their record in their Tuesday matchup against Half Moon Bay on Feb. 17 at 3:00 P.M.
