Aragon’s boys tennis team soundly defeated Hillsdale 7-0 on Mar. 7th,
The team’s most impressive performance came from the No. 1 doubles duo of sophomore Richard Tang and junior Jason Zhao, who won the match without losing a set 6-0, 6-0.
“It is just about staying consistent and aggressive the entire match,” says Tang. “We knew during warm-ups that we were more talented than them, but it was all about staying mentally focused and being aggressive all match.”
The rest of the boys’ doubles won as well, with No. 2, juniors Sean Heffernan and Patrick Tse winning 6-3 and 6-1, and No. 3, juniors Nick Hudson and Cameron Swiecki, also winning 6-2 and 6-3.
The Dons’ boys singles players took away victories in their matches as well, with the tandem of No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, sophomore Daniel Li, sophomore Rithik Booreddy, and freshman Daniel Duan, respectively, all beating Hillsdale’s respective singles players with ease. Meanwhile, No. 4 singles player junior David Wu overcame some difficulties in his match, but ultimately emerged victorious, winning 6-4 and 7-5.
“I gave away too many service points,” comments Wu. “I tried harder to break his point and just outlasted him in the rallies.”
