Yale University’s all-female jazz and swing a cappella group, Proof of the Pudding, came to Aragon’s fifth period choir class Jan. 10 to perform an assortment of songs and lead the Aragon singers in a short clinic. Valerie Chen, a member of the Yale group, graduated from Aragon in 2015.
Proof of the Pudding performed pop culture songs, including The Temptations’ “My Girl” and The Andrews Sisters’ “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” They also showcased their rendition of “Be My Husband,” which was by Nina Simone, but has gained more fame as of late due to 13-time Grammy Award nominee Ed Sheeran’s cover.
After the Yale group finished performing, Aragon’s all-female a cappella group, Treble With Angels, sung Corinne Bailey Rae’s “Put Your Records On,” as senior Princess Guzman performed a solo.
