In their third game of the week, the boys baseball team (11-6) defeated Balboa (4-12) 12-0 on April 21.
“This is a real good team and we are finally figuring it out,” said pitching coach Dusty Landwehr. “I like our chances moving forward.”
Offensively, the Dons started off strong, and continued scoring easy runs throughout the first five innings. After scoring a run off of a balk, senior Samir Hussain hit a two-run home run, with the Dons leading 3-0 at the end of the first inning. In the second inning, three players were walked before junior Tristan Dewing batted in two runners, pushing the Dons’ lead to seven.
“I think we played well as a team,” said senior Nick Galliano. “We just all put our minds together.”

Galliano pitched the first six innings, striking out eight batters and only allowing one hit before he was removed for senior Anthony Calvo.
“Nick pitched a great game,” Landwehr said. “We made plays when we needed to make plays. It was a good game all around.”
In the coming weeks, the Dons will play some harder opponents.
“We play King’s [Academy], who’s in first in the league,” said junior pitcher Adam Bever. “I think if we play our game in control, I think we can win.”
The team hopes to continue its three-game winning streak after a rough start to their season.
“It’s a little up and down,” Landwehr said. “But, we are turning it on at the right time and we have a good shot moving forward.
