Aragon (0-1 Peninsula Bay League, 0-5 overall) still looking for their first win of the season, faced Menlo-Atherton (1-0 Peninsula Bay League, 3-2 overall) and lost 41-0 in the annual pride football game on Sept. 28.
Senior running back and offensive linebacker Camron Grant and senior running back and free safety Paul Lautaimi rushed a combined total of just over 40 yards out of the team’s 85 rushed yards overall.
Junior quarterback Colby Stevens and senior wide and defensive back Shavoni Mejia were responsible for the 18 passing and receiving yards that Aragon completed throughout the game.
“I thought our players did really well” said senior Kris Velisano, “but just because of the division and how it was higher than us it really took us down.”
During the first quarter, Menlo-Atherton had just scored a touchdown and were looking to make a field goal but Aragon made a great block to prevent the extra point.
In the last quarter of the game, Aragon did well bringing the ball up the field and were less than 10 yards away from the goal line when their pass was unfortunately intercepted by Menlo-Atherton.
“I think their game plan was okay,” said sophomore Jorrell Aquino. “Executing it and going against a really good team was hard.”
The Dons are set to play Sacred Heart Prep on Oct. 5th (5-0 overall).
