In February, the Wellness Center worked with the leadership health and wellness commission to provide two lunchtime events.
The self-love event on Feb. 15 included a photo booth and post-its to write down forms of self-care. Those who participated received a lollipop, stickers and a card titled “Things I must do to love myself” that listed 168 more ways to care for yourself.
“[The event is] tak[es] the focus off of Valentine’s Day being just for couples and [makes it] about how you can improve yourself,” said senior and health and wellness commission leader Isabella Jad.

The healthy relationships event on Feb. 16 had a relationship spectrum, cards about healthy relationship habits, lollipops and stickers.
The relationship spectrum was divided into three sections: healthy, unhealthy and abusive. There were several cards listing different scenarios, which students sorted into one of the three categories.
“It’s important for us as counselors to know how students gauge relationship behavior, and see if we need to do more information and workshops,” Cordova said.

According to Cordova, one of the main goals of the event was to spread awareness about healthy and unhealthy relationships, so students could recognize the signs in themselves or their friends.
Wellness counselors encourage those who are struggling with any of these issues to seek help, by visiting them at the Wellness Center in room 224.
