On Oct. 31, Aragon held its annual Halloween rally in Center Court.
“Everyone always brings the best energy and the teachers always go off,” said senior Kelsey Mallard.
The event began with a performance by Aragon’s dance class to “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Lorde and Monster High’s “Monster High Fright Song.”
Leadership teacher Heather Stretch, in her “The Greatest Showman” costume followed, kicking off the staffulty costume contest.
The Visual and Performing Arts and Career Technical Education teachers dressed up as greasers and pink ladies from “Grease,” the upcoming school musical.
The English and social studies departments then teamed up as zombie Barbies and Kens. The recent movie also influenced the math department’s costumes whose Barbies, Kens and Allan performed choreography to Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night” and Ryan Gosling’s “I’m Just Ken.”
“My favorite was the Barbie dance, it was so iconic,” said junior Sophia Goodwin.
After this act, the science department rocked out to “Enter Sandman” by Metallica in heavy metal costumes, a play on rock stars and equally rocking elements of the periodic table. Students were then asked “Where’s Waldo?” with the Physical Education department hidden in the crowd as versions of Waldo.
The World Language department rushed the field dressed as Pokemon and trainers with the Wellness and Psychology department following as Mario characters, complete with Rookie the therapy dog dressed as Bowser.
Finally, admin proved their skills in their “Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story”-inspired outfits. Students cheered to vote on their favorite, the math department taking home the victory for the second year in a row.
“I knew that the math department would win because they always put so much effort in,” said junior Medha Rakesh. “I was waiting for them to show up and blow it away.”
To a backdrop of Halloween music, the student costume contest also took place.
“All the costumes were very interesting and very creative,” said senior Lequan Wang. “All of the staff put in so much effort and the students seemed to have a great time.”
