The San Francisco 49ers squared off against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. For the second time in four years, the 49ers found themselves in a Super Bowl matchup with the Chiefs and students here at Aragon celebrated the event in a variety of ways.
Senior Cyrus Hayden-Gephart spent quality time with friends and family during the big game.
“We watched the first half then had dinner while watching the halftime show,” Hayden-Gephart said. “We ate typical Super Bowl food, pizza and wings. I enjoyed the time with friends and family even though the game didn’t go how I wanted it to go.”
Hayden-Gephart had predicted a 24-21 victory for the Niners.
Freshman Nicolas Castroviejo watched the game at a restaurant with his father.
“I thought the game was going to be close with the Niners eventually coming out on top, but it didn’t end the way I expected,” Castroviejo said. “I watched the Super Bowl with my dad at a restaurant and left depressed. I sat there uncomfortably finishing my cold fries after the game, upset with the results. I still enjoyed getting to spend time with my Dad and I enjoyed watching the game even though we [the Niners] lost.”
Castroviejo predicted a 21-14 victory for the Niners.
Many fans of the 49ers including junior Dalton Kane were frustrated with the results of the game.
“I’m very frustrated with how the game went. I thought the first few drives were great,” Kane said. “And then after Greenlaw got hurt and some poor decision-making by Shanahan, we lost after having a lead for the majority of the game.”
Dalton had predicted a 31-28 victory for the Niners
Many Niners fans entered the Super Bowl with tons of hope, but the team came up short. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan blew his third straight double digit Super Bowl lead as a play caller. The 49ers lost in brutal fashion on a game winning touchdown by the Chiefs in OT.
However, as we look back on the game the result of the game is insignificant when compared to the time spent with close friends and family. Although the results were disappointing, the memories made should be cherished.
