  1. Wow, thank you for sharing your honesty. You sound very mature for your age. My husband and i have been debating getting my our boys phones. We don’t want to be controlling about it but we do see the addiction of having a phone…your perspective was helpful.

  2. As a 17 year old who also doesn’t have a phone (my parents don’t let me) I just want all the parents out there to understand how alienating it is to not have one. If you as a parent are 100% willing to subject your child or teen to incredible disconnect from everyone around them, not being able to properly form connections with people their age, constantly feeling disconnected and left out, feeling left out of your generation, and ultimately not having a leg up in life, then by all means don’t get your kid a phone. But coming from someone who doesn’t have one, just know that you’re making your kid’s life unnecessarily harder, more stressful, and just worse.
